Local mum’s fundraising Ball
26 January 2010A local mother of two, from Cramlington, is organising a ‘Champagne and Feathers Ball’ for a charity close to her heart at the Marriott Gosforth Park in Newcastle on Saturday March 20.
Caroline Crawford, 38, contracted meningococcal bacteria meningitis in December 2008. She became ill with flu-like symptoms and the following day was rushed to Wansbeck Hospital after thinking it might be more than the flu. Caroline trusted her instincts and demanded medical attention; helping her to make a full recovery.
After realising how lucky she was, Caroline became dedicated to raising awareness and vital funds for the Meningitis Trust. Caroline is a mother of two and works as Business Development Director at her family business, Moody Logistics.
Caroline Crawford says: “It will be a truly wonderful evening and I am very excited to be able to give something back to a charity which supports anyone in the UK who has experienced meningitis. I want to ensure that more people are aware of the impact of this terrible disease.
“There will be champagne reception, a four-course meal, bacon sandwiches at midnight, a ladies gift plus live entertainment and dancing with the Anna Reay Band”.
The Meningitis Trust is the only charity to offer a range of free professional services and community based support for people affected by meningitis.
A recent survey indicates that there are over 20,000 people living in the North East today who have had meningitis. The impact of meningitis and associated septicaemia is life-changing. Survivors can face a future with devastating after-effects; families can face a future without a loved one. The Meningitis Trust supports anyone affected for as long as they need it.
